Aitana’s mother and stepfather arrested when she was 2 years old: they raped and killed her

Tamaulipas, Mexico, Avanzada (05/05/2025) – Aitana was barely two years old when her life was brutally taken. In the early morning of May 2, her mother arrived at the Red Cross in the northern part of Tampico carrying the lifeless body. She said an unknown man had broken into their home to steal something and, upon being discovered, attacked the little girl. This story shocked the paramedics, and soon the authorities. But it wasn’t true.

Today, just a few days later, the story took a painful and shocking turn. The Tamaulipas Attorney General’s Office confirmed the arrest of Michelle Denisse “P,” the minor’s mother, and Luis Daniel “H,” her partner and stepfather. Both were arrested in the Miguel Hidalgo ejido in the municipality of Altamira as alleged perpetrators of the crime.

The crimes they are being investigated for are serious: filicide, domestic violence, rape, and sexual abuse against not only Aitana, but also her brother, another minor who showed signs of repeated violence.

The investigation began the same day of the death. Forensic experts and police officers attended the home in the Municipios Libres neighborhood and, after examining the scene and performing an autopsy, completely ruled out the robbery story. There were no signs of forced entry or evidence of an external attack. Instead, the evidence pointed to an environment of abuse and mistreatment within the home itself.

According to official information, the crime occurred while the adults were under the influence of drugs, and after the girl’s death, they attempted to cover up the incident with an improvised alibi. The autopsy revealed signs of physical and sexual violence, which immediately triggered the femicide protocol.

The Prosecutor’s Office reported that both detainees were placed at the disposal of a judge, who will determine their legal status in the coming hours.

Aitana didn’t live to see three years. Her story, like that of many other children who were victims of violence in their own homes, cannot be silenced or left a statistical figure. It’s a tragedy that demands justice, but also a society that is more vigilant, more empathetic, and more protective of its childhood.

Because the worst horrors don’t always come from outside. Sometimes they sleep in the house.
