Brisa N, just 12 years old

The Coahuila State Attorney General’s Office confirmed this Friday the identity of the minor found dead in a place in the municipality of San Juan de Sabinas. She is Brisa N, just 12 years old, whose body will be transported to her home in the coming hours for family and friends to hold a wake.

The confirmation was delivered this morning to Gloria Marisa Castellanos Márquez, the victim’s mother, by Isadora Rodríguez Garza, the Prosecutor’s Office delegate in the Carbonífera Region, following the completion of DNA analysis by the Forensic Medical Service (SEMEFO) in Monclova.

Brisa had been reported missing days earlier. The discovery of her body caused consternation in the community, and since then, the Attorney General’s Office has maintained an open investigation involving a man originally from Nuevo León, identified as the alleged perpetrator, and a woman who works as a teacher, also under investigation.

Social outrage and demand for justice

The case has sparked a wave of outrage on social media, where citizen groups, activists, and users have expressed their solidarity with Brisa’s family and demanded justice, as well as greater protection measures for children and adolescents in the region.

The girl will be welcomed back into her community this Friday, where her loved ones will bid her farewell amid profound sadness and a unanimous call for events like this not to be repeated.

For their part, the authorities have reported that they are continuing to carry out the necessary investigations to fully clarify the case and punish those responsible.
