A young woman was found dead in alarming conditions in a wooded area of ​​the municipality of Puerto Cortés, located in the department of Cortés, in northern Honduras.

The discovery was reported by residents of the La Campana community, who alerted authorities to the presence of the body in an area covered in weeds.

The deceased was identified as Ana Villafranca, known by the alias “La Diabla,” thanks to a visible tattoo on her body. Although her exact age has not been confirmed, it is known that she was originally from the Tulian area.

The body was found in a rural area of ​​the La Campana highway sector, a community in the municipality of Puerto Cortés.

The body was lying face down, with visible signs of physical violence and probable asphyxiation, according to the preliminary police report. She was wearing a red shirt and black shorts, although some of her underwear was found a short distance away, reinforcing the suspicion of a possible sexual assault.

Her body was discovered recently after local residents notified the police. Witnesses claim to have last seen her the previous night, when she was allegedly at a nightclub and other entertainment establishments on the beach shortly before she disappeared.

Investigative officers cordoned off the area and began the corresponding investigation. The body showed multiple bruises, signs of torture, and signs of asphyxiation, according to the preliminary forensic report.

The circumstances of the crime have not yet been clarified, and the motive for the murder, as well as the identity and whereabouts of those responsible, are unknown.

Authorities continue their investigation to clarify this violent crime that has shocked the local community. Meanwhile, the case remains under investigation by the relevant police and judicial bodies.
