After a tense search, he appeared, but not in the way they wanted to find him.

After more than a week of anguish and uncertainty, the State Attorney General’s Office confirmed to the family the identity of Omar Adrián Ruiz Ramírez, 48 years old, who had been missing since last Thursday, June 5.

His body was found on Sunday, June 15, Father’s Day, in the irrigation canal of the community of El Desengaño, in the Carrizo Valley, municipality of Ahome.

The identity was confirmed through genetic testing, and the body has already been released to relatives for viewing and burial.

The Prosecutor’s Office reported that the body was initially identified by a visible tattoo and later through DNA testing. This morning, Friday, June 20, Omar Adrián’s remains will lie in state at the Moreh Funeral Home in Los Mochis, starting at 8:00 a.m.

Omar Adrián was last seen around 11:40 a.m. on Thursday, June 5, when he visited his mother at a booth outside the ISSSTE hospital in Los Mochis. Since then, his family has lost contact with him and began an intensive search, filing a complaint with the Deputy Prosecutor’s Office in the Northern Zone.

The investigation file AHOME/FEDFP/2716/2025 was opened by the Specialized Unit for the Search for Missing Persons, and the State Search Commission issued an official location record.

On June 9, his family led a peaceful march from 27 de Septiembre Square to the Deputy Prosecutor’s Office, demanding progress in the investigation. Hours later, the vehicle in which Omar was traveling was located.

On June 10, the vehicle he was traveling in at the time of his disappearance was found in the municipality of El Carrizo. The vehicle was abandoned, with no battery or spare tire.

Five days later, on Sunday, June 15, Father’s Day, a body was found floating face down in the irrigation canal of the community of El Desengaño, just a few meters from Mexico City International Highway 15. The body showed signs of decomposition, was barefoot, and had bruises, so at that time it was not possible to confirm its identity.

Since that day, Omar Adrián’s family suspected it was him. However, it wasn’t until the afternoon of Friday, June 21st, that the deputy prosecutor for the Northern Zone, Isaac Aguayo Roacho, confirmed that the genetic tests performed by forensic personnel yielded positive results, allowing the body to be released for return to the relatives.

Deputy Prosecutor Aguayo Roacho indicated that the investigation remains open, seeking to clarify the events that led to the disappearance and subsequent death of Omar Adrián Ruiz Ramírez.
