Colleagues call for search for missing doctor

Santiago – The Dominican Medical Association and the Dominican Society of Neonatology (Sodone) demanded that authorities focus more attention and take greater action in the search for Dr. Antonio Espinal Suero. The doctor lives in the Villa Olga neighborhood of Santiago de los Caballeros.

Dr. Santiago Martínez, president, urged police authorities to respond quickly to locate the doctor, who has been missing since Tuesday night, according to his sister. Martínez stated: “As an external representative of Sodone, we express our concern about the disappearance of one of our doctors and we join forces with the family to find Dr. Espinal,” the neonatologist explained.

The missing man works as a perinatologist at the José Francisco Peña Gómez Maternal and Child Hospital in Mao, Valverde province.

The president of the Dominican Medical Association, Dr. Waldo Ariel Suero, urged the director of the National Police, Major General Ramón Antonio Guzmán, to intensify his efforts to locate the doctor. The doctor left his residence last Tuesday at 10:30 p.m. with some friends. He has not been heard from since. His family, colleagues, and friends are very concerned and hope nothing has happened to him.
