
A tragic road accident claimed the life of Luiz Davi Silva, a 3-year-old boy, after a collision between three vehicles occurred last Wednesday, July 2, on BR-459, a stretch that connects the municipalities of Congonhal and Pouso Alegre, in the southern Brazilian state of Minas Gerais.
The accident occurred on Wednesday afternoon in a high-traffic area of BR-459, a major federal highway. The victim was rushed to the hospital in Pouso Alegre, but his death was confirmed on the evening of Friday, July 4.
Luiz Davi was traveling in one of the vehicles involved in the head-on collision with a Congonhal municipal ambulance, which was transporting two patients to the Samuel Libânio Clinical Hospital in Pouso Alegre. The unit also had a doctor and a nurse on board.
According to preliminary information from the Mobile Emergency Service (SAMU) and eyewitness accounts, the minor was removed from the vehicle by civilians in critical condition and immediately taken to a medical center.
At the hospital, he underwent resuscitation and had to be urgently intubated. However, despite the intensive efforts of the medical team, his condition progressively worsened until his death was confirmed.
In addition to the child’s tragic death, five people were injured, including the two patients being transported in the ambulance and the medical personnel. All received specialized care and are recovering.
The Federal Highway Police has opened an investigation to clarify the circumstances of the accident. The exact cause of the collision between the vehicles involved has not yet been disclosed.
Luiz Davi’s body is being held in state since 10:00 p.m. on Friday at the Congonhal Municipal Funeral Home. The burial is scheduled for this Saturday, July 5, at 3:00 p.m. at the city’s Municipal Cemetery.
This unfortunate incident has caused deep consternation in the local community, which is sympathetic to the family in this time of grief.
