A security guard at a shopping mall in Australia was sentenced to four and a half years in prison for preying on and sexually assaulting a three-year-old girl who had strayed into the mall’s playground.
According to the international network RT, the incident occurred after security cameras detected a girl alone and distressed. One of the security officers rushed to the girl’s aid.
When the man arrived, he told her he already knew where her mother was, so he was going to take her with him, but on the way, they took a lonely hallway with no security cameras. After 11 minutes, the security guard reached the girl’s mother, handed her over, and scolded her for leaving him alone.
That same day, the girl told her father that when the security guard rescued her, he had made a “boom-boom” sound on her face. The father became concerned and took her to the police for examination by a specialist. The specialist told the police that the girl had been sexually assaulted.
According to authorities, minutes after the security guard rescued her, he took her to a room in the mall, where he lowered his pants and placed his penis in her face, then inappropriately touched her genitals.
In court, the man identified as Mohammed Al Bayati denied the charges against him, but the judge convicted him of sexual assault against the girl.
“It’s a nightmare for any parent… Trying to logically understand why someone would try to behave that way with a three-year-old girl is pointless,” the judge told the media.
